Baldino had been on the ViroPharma board from 1996to 2006. ViroPharma is an Pa.-based biopharmaceutical company. Last week it announced that the wants an additional clinical study on its experimentalk hereditaryangiodema (HAE) drug Cinryze before the agenc will render a decision. HAE is a rare, condition that causes swelling in various body parts includingthe feet, face and throat. The drug is alreadyt approved for use in preventingbHAE attacks. ViroPharma’s other approved drug is Vancocin, an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections of the lowerd digestive tract that resulr in a potentially fatal condition known asclostridium difficile-associatedc disease.
Cephalon is an international companu that focuses on developing drugs in four core therapeutic centralnervous system, pain, oncology and addiction. Baldinoo sits on several other including the trustees atTemple University, the Franklin science museu and the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.
