million in back pay to 19 former employeesz of the defunctInternet start-up company of Saratoga Springs, accordinf to judgments filed in state Supreme Court in Saratogsa County. James Hacker, a Lathan attorney, awarded back pay and damages earlierthis year, approximatelyy three years after the company ran into financiao problems and ran behind on payroll. Among the formet employees named in state Supreme Courr records wasStephen Kerber, brother of Wurldd Media Inc. co-founder Greg Stephen Kerber wasawarded $207,153, according to a judgment filed in April. Wurld Media was once a promising Internet start up company that produced a technology similato iTunes.
The company, which had 500 private ran into financial problems in 2006 and sold its assetx tofor $4.3 million in July 2007. Two of the company’x top executives, Greg Kerber and Richard the finance officer, have been convicted of felonies in the collapsde ofthe company. Saxton was convicted of grane larcenylast fall. He is appealing the verdict. Kerber was convicteds of grand larceny last month forstealing $32,000 in companyu assets and using that money to buy repair his car and hire a lawyef to represent him in a previous criminal Wurld, which at one time employed 60 began to miss payroll regularly in 2006.
Several employeex filed a federal lawsuit against the companh and it ended up being handlesdby Hacker, an arbitrator. The Saratoga County District Attorney’s office said last monthu that it does not appear that Wurld Mediqa has enough money left to repay employeesxand investors.
