All of the manufacturing operationx will now be run out of its corporatew headquartersin Louisville, Ky. Eighty eighg out of the 100 employees from the Orangde Park office on Stowe Avenue will be laid off durinbthe process.
Any employees left aftert the summer will transferf over to the office on Baymeadows Quantum notifiedthe state's Agency for Workforcd Innovation of the cuts Monday. “Thee business has taken a significantt downturn,” Blatherwick said. “It doesn’tf make sense to keep multiple operations Establishedin 1988, the company builds and providee technology products for the railroad industry, and sinc CSX has experienced some difficulties during the economt in Jacksonville, Quantum is suffering as well. “CSXX is a major customer,” Blatherwick said. “They are sidelining a lot of rail cars and asthey do, that hurte us.
” The employees were notified of the mass lay off back in but the first cuts won’t occur untilo July 24. In the meantime, Quantum has contacteed the Clay County branch of WorkSource and askecd its emergency response team to come in andprovide job-seekint services to its employees before the cuts.
