Hawaii ranks 15th in U.S. for foreclosures, sees nearly 400% spike in May - Silicon Valley / San Jose Business Journal:

Foreclosures were up 397.5 percent for the montgh compared with May and wereup 19.3 percent over April 2009, accordintg to the latest report from RealtyTrac issued Wednesday. Hawaii rankee 15th in the nation for foreclosuresin May, up from 23rd in Hawaii had 816 foreclosure filings in May. Therew were 684 foreclosure filings in Aprill and 164 foreclosures inMay 2008. Hawaioi had a foreclosure rate of one filingb for every 621 according to the latest survey bythe California-basexd real estate research firm. Nevada again had the highest foreclosurew rate inthe country, with one filing for every 64 California had the second highest rate for the month, follower by Florida.
California had the highestr number of foreclosures at Vermontranked 50th, with just six foreclosures at a rate of one filingv for every 51,906 Nationally, there were 321,480 foreclosure filingzs for the month, down 6 percent from Aprio and up nearly 18 percent from May according to the report.
